Boo!
Hallowe'en is coming up! It is one of my FAVORITE holidays. I love getting dressed up on any day but on HALLOWE'EN its super special because everyone gets dressed up too! How fun....
I usually don't try to be something that everyone else is gonna be. For example, a couple of years ago I was a jelly fish! This year I was toying around with robots and Darth Vader (I mean how many girls are going to pick DARTH VADER?) but I couldn't find a really good mask. Plus, half the fun is finding all the props to go with your costume and I have to say the light sabers on the market are not what they could be!
One caveat this year is that I fell in love with THESE BOOTS, which I would wear anywhere from a night out on the town to Sunday brunch (hey that's just me), but a perfect excuse to buy them is for my Hallowe'en costume!
The straps are removable and the super thigh high length is INSANE! Its actually quite astonishing to me that over the knee boots have hit the mainstream this season. As you may or may not know I have an extensive collection.....but these ones I just had to have! One because of the height and just look at those straps! INSANE. Anyways I got them in the suede even though they came in black leather - yum yum.
So what did I decide to be this year?

dun.....
She's not a usual pick for me but it is going to be fun, and I have half the costume in my closet already....

Happy Long Weekend!
I hope that everyone is having a fantastic long weekend filled with family, friends and end of summer BBQ's. I had a beautiful summer on the West Coast with lots of beach days and visits from friends all over the country! It was great...I got to see a ton of concerts this summer too, like Depeche Mode at the Hollywood Bowl (amazing!) and The Dead Weather at the Wiltern (electric!)
Now its time for Fall and New York Fashion Week! Looking forwards to boots, leather leggings and yummy sweaters. I'm packing all my vintage jackets and purses for New York and getting the rest of the collection ready for the upcoming shows! We are presenting the SS2010 Collection at the Designers and Agents show starting September 20th.
See you on the East Coast!
XO

Bat For Lashes vs. Margiela SS/09
This past Monday I had the good luck to get invited to see Bat For Lashes live at the Henry Fonda Theater here in Los Angeles. The show was stellar and her outfit was INSPIRATIONAL to say the least.
Bat for Lashes (Natasha Kahn) in her signature outfit for the 2009 tour, a leotard with "hairy fringe sleeves"...

I think there are definite reference to the Margiela SS/09 "Hair" Collection. I know many critics thought it was controversial (hair on hair on jackets) but I LOVED it. Mostly because I enjoy seeing the use of unconventional materials in fashion AND I love the genius that is Margiela.... Check out Natasha vs. Margiela below:

And I thought I was adventurous in my outfit! I had on a vintage palm print jumpsuit that I have been dying to wear all summer, and some strappy gladiator wedges. Of course accessorized with the best concert jewelry of them all - all access wristbands for the afterparty!

I'd Rather Wear Accessories!
I am heading to New York for NYFW! So very excited to get to the city and check out all the fun events at "Fashion's Night Out" on September 10th. First off is the big party being held at Henri Bendel's Flagship store on 5th Avenue.
"Henri Bendel will be joining 700 other participating retailers next Thursday night, September 10th, to celebrate Fashion’s Night Out, a global initiative spearheaded by Vogue, the CFDA and the City of New York to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion.
The theme of the evening is “I’d Rather Wear Accessories” and nowhere will this be more evident then in the beautifully crafted mannequins in the window and throughout the store “dressed” entirely in accessories. Picture a couture ball gown made exclusively of gloves or a 40’s inspired dress made entirely of pearls.
Guests will be treated to cocktails and nibbles courtesy of STK and chic beats by DJ, Niki McNally, while mingling with designers at The New and the Next Gallery. Carlos Falchi, Rodrigo Otazu, Badgley Mischka, Rebecca Minkoff, Trish McEvoy, among others, will be making personal appearances. Over 40 designers have created one of a kind pieces, which we will be auctioning off to benefit the 911 Memorial fund.
Gossip Girl’s, Eric Daman and Revlon’s Gucci Westman will be styling and making over guests for the “I’d Rather Wear Accessories” photo shoot. Guests will have an opportunity to enter the “I’d Rather Wear Accessories” sweepstakes where one lucky winner will win the accessory of their choice.
Vogue model and artist, Sasha Pivavorova, will be curating an exhibit of her works. Our renowned in-house illustrator, Izak Zenou, will be sketching personalized “I’d Rather...” portraits.
And that’s not all...we will also be raffling off fabulous prizes, such as, the ultimate Henri Bendel luggage set, beauty baskets filled with products worth in excess of $750, a $200 gift certificate for dinner at STK plus a 10 pack of core fusion classes at exhale at the Gansevoort New York."
Sounds like fun! See you guys there...

"Beat the Doldrums Out Of Your Summer Outfits with Tasseled Accessories" by Connie Wang
If you're like us and the only thing on your mind when you get dressed in the morning is whether you'll die from heatstroke in your outfit, the August stretch might be putting a damper on your creativity. On-trend yet unexpectedly hip, tasseled accessories are a breezy way to add some zest to your shorts-and-tee uniform. Whether it's a curtain-tie knotted around your waist or a gaggle of mini tufts adorning your neck, tassels are great little accents to liven up an outfit. Check out our picks of the best dusters trimmings in shops now!

Candace Ang for Margarita Saplala SS2010
I'm chilling up in the Great White North while my cohorts in New York are busy shooting the look book for the awesome Margarita Saplala Spring/Summer 2010 Collection.
While I was drinking beer and watching the UFC championship on Pay Per View last night (yes all glamour goes out the window when in Canada!) those crazy kids were getting together the new jewelry I designed for Margarita's new collection debuting this September.
Check out some pieces from her FW 2009 collection to get an idea of what she does best - super simple layers, essential silk dresses, and digital prints in cool colors....
I can't show you the jewelry yet but from what I hear everyone is loving it over there! Earlier in the summer, Margarita came for a visit to my studio and we went over styles and the graphics for her great printed silks. With her ideas and inspiration, I put together a really fun and easy collection of lucite and silver jewelry to go with her new pieces. Think bold geometric shapes, fabric wrapped chains and a multitude of prints!

LA Style, Candace Ang in WWD!
The City of Angels is getting a slew of attention these days from style makers and trend spotters around the world. WWD featured our Ruffian Necklaces in a editorial yesterday all about Los Angeles and the hit show revival Melrose Place!
Check out an except from the article below:
“I think it’s a good time for Los Angeles to be recognized in terms of design,” says costume designer Emma Trask, a celebrity and editorial stylist who uses local resources such as Erica Davies, Louis Verdad, Lloyd Klein, Cosa Nostra and Elise Overland in addition to Jean Paul Gaultier, ChloĆ©, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga and Lanvin on the show. “The city is full of different looks, and each girl was set up to be very different stylewise.” (for more click here)
